  • LTO4 and Bru pe tape ‘estimated archive total’ question

    Hi,
I’m currently backing up lots of video files from a san to Quantum Lto4 using Bru Pe. I’m just a little confused about the estimate file size part of it. I know that Bru adds overheads to the tape but on this last tape I was getting 630gb actual size of files to reach an estimated Archive total of 819gb which is just slightly disappointing. I usually try to fit everything to under 800gb but I have gotten to 810gb previously and I was just wondering how far has anyone gone over lto tape capacity with the Bru estimated file size without needing to switch to a next tape. Please advise, I would like to maximise the tapes we have. Thanks

It’s not unusual for me to back up over a TB in a session, and BRU always prompts me when the tape is full and a new one needs to be inserted. You shouldn’t have to do any calculations.
