Lowering file size from FireWire import
I am going on a trip soon and need to figure this out ASAP. I am important an SDI feed via Firewire into Final Cup Pro “Log & Capture” Mode. I have 2 external 1.5 Terabyte hard drives with me to capture the footage directly onto there. However, testing this method out I have noticed that a 17 seconds video clip has cost me 114MB on the drive. At this rate I will only be able to capture 3min max before my 1.5 T drive becomes completely full.
How do I lower the size of my input FireWire feed? without losing too much quality?

How? You must have a capture box or some converter in there. SDI and firewire are completely different connector types.

Your math is a little off. After MB comes GB (gigabytes)…and then TB (Terrabyes). You can capture a lot more than 3 min.
If you are capturing via firewire, your options are DV and HDV…both are 13GB per hour. You can capture over 100 hours in those formats on that 1.5TB drive.
