  • Low res proxy for offline editing in ppr cs6 with p2 mxf

    Hi everybody,
My apologies if the question was already asked before, but i can’t find a clear answer (using p2 mxf).
I have a quite big editing project for doc shot on P2hd with hvx200. For some obscure reasons I have to edit on the field, but I’m afraid of my laptop performance with this size of project (asus amd A6 4Go & lot of hdd).
So I am looking for THE good workflow to make offline low res proxies, and switch back online to high res after edit.
I know some good ways with fcp7, such as import with transcode do the jobs, make offline and recapture in high res. Or consolidate with transcode then capture back.
This is the ways that would be great on cs6, but so far, I only had success using files by files recapture. It seems that no batch treatment is available?
    Any clue?
    tx lot guys,
    Paul

Hey, looks like I have a part of the answer.
    https://forums.adobe.com/message/4290664?tstart=0
Here is a topic with basically the same problem, batch swapping low res to high res will be done by ppro cs6 ONLY if files haves same name and same extension. This topic is for mxf from xf300, not same as p2 but quite close.
    So What should I do,
    1) create two identical media path on hard drives, first with transcoded high res media (ex pro res 4.2.2??) the other with low res (pro res proxy or lower). It means that i have to copy p2 media, then transcode (and keep the original as a backup) into something I would be able to compress and easely rename (I am thinking about P2 directory path)

    Or
    2) Should I use direct p2 mxf as a high res, and create a second media path using media encoder, to create dvcpro SD or lower P2 files as offlines files.

Maybe both way are working, what do you think?
    thx
    cheers
