low memory shut down
I was rather foolishly using Avid without a hard drive and it was giving me warnings about low memory, then my computer (a gateway with Windows 8) went black. Everytime I turn it on, the logo shows and then it goes black, I’ve tried trouble shooting with the battery and pressing f8 but nothing happens. This is a new computer. Does anyone know if this is at all reparable?

Are you saying that the computer will not boot up at all because the only drive (system drive) is full? If so, I would suggest booting up from a another drive, or rescue disk/USB stick whatever and clean off that drive to make more room. Usually the paging file needs some minimum size to manage files and headroom and it probably fell below that limit.
