    Hey everyone,

I’ve been visiting the forum for quite some time but I’ve just only registered because AE is running extremely slow and, whilst I am no expert, I think my computer should handle this much faster.

I’m trying to work on some UI / HUD for a video and I’m using this free project file: https://www.motion-cafe.com/index.php?page=free-ui-design-pack-after-effects

I attach a screenshot of my computer configuration.

I haven’t touched anything inside after effects, it is actually one of my very first times using the software and I don’t really know what to play around with. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks a lot!
    Luis

My experience varies from HP Z monsters to nMP D700 full loaded trashcans.
Slow can be easily achieved by a few things.
Too many processes running at the same time.
Too many AI (vector) files in the comps/subcomps and for no reason at all…please export to PSD at one to one scale.
I teach AE at local college and I enforce this practice.
If you are not scaling something up to 1000x then why lug around that weight.
High pixel imports are culprits as well (again 1:1 scale).
If you really want to test your system, download the Nightflight AEP file and go to town.

Dave, Eric, thanks for your replies.

The project file I’m using is a collection of different sequences, each of which varies in complexity, but they’re all formed out of animated shapes. By reading Eric’s comments on vector files (not .ai, but maybe shapes work in a similar way?) I’m thinking that might be the case.

Dave, I can’t give specific numbers, but it is impossible to work in close-to real time fps even lowering the resolution to 16×16 lines…

Here is a screenshot of what one of the sequences look like, maybe 79 layers is too much?

    Thanks again!
