After using FCP X since it launched in June, I am still learning the benefits of it’s feature set. For a recent promo video I did, I decided as a test to cut a version in FCP 7 and then in FCP X. I didn’t end up even getting through the cut on FCP 7, because I was flying through the edit so much more quickly in X.

The main reason I was able to speed things up so quickly was through the use of compound clips. I mention this just because I would assume many users (including myself at one point), know what these basic new features are, but are not fully embracing them. When you try to make X work like 7, it feels awkward. But when you go with it and use the tools how they should be, it is really quite amazing.
