  • Lost the sound for your footage? (The waveform is flat)

    Hey,

I just had this problem and also got to fix it, so I thought I’d share my experience in case anybody comes across the same issue.

The context : I was editing in a first project but with wrong settings so I copied my sequence and raw video files and pasted it in a new project, this time with the settings I needed.

The problem : my waveforms came out flat of the process… and obviously, no sound was playing through the speakers.

The fix : get Premiere to conform your files. I tried replacing the footage but it didn’t seem to change anything. Then I don’t know what I did but it started conforming my footage (that was probably the auto-conforming) and I’ve got my sound back!

    Glad to help 😉

    Hi,

I just had that problem as well. I was editing in the wrong settings (HDV) so I imported the footage to a new project (DV) – twice, and both times it has ended in all the sound waves flattened, with no sound at all.

The first 20 mins after importing the footage the sound worked, and from then on it was gone. So I’ve reopened, etc, etc. but still same problem. The computer doesn’t seem to be conforming the footage itself. Do you know how I could conform the footage manually?

    Thanks!

    I’m really sorry but I don’t 🙁

You can try to replace footage, it should trigger auto-conforming (I think that’s what happened in my case).
