    I am now in 5.1.4 and when i start up FCP I get a warning saying, MISSING: apple firewire ntsc 720×480 and I cant get my sony DSR 10 (clam shell DV cam deck) to work either. anyone have this problem and is there a fix.

    Did you happen to update your QuickTime?

    THAT DOES NOT WORK,
    HERE IS WHAT I GET:

    Unable to locate the following external devices:
    Apple FireWire NTSC (720×480)
    Your system config may have changed, or your deck / camera may be disconnected or turned off.
    Please check your conections and click check again or continue.

    well everything is the same as it was before we did these upgrades. nothing has been changed at all.
    I did the reinstall of QT as you suggest and no luck, we did the crossgrade update and we were fine, after that we did the next few updates and everythig went down hill, now we are at 5.1.4 and no deck control, what is the deal.
