Lost Frames during transfer
I took some video outside with my camcorder I bought last year (Sony HDR-HC5). I was transfering to computer via firewire, and noticed that in 8 minutes worth of video, I had appx 800 dropped frames. I turned off my virus protection, and disconnected from the internet, and still had all those dropped frames. Never had this happen before. I also had some footage to transfer from my other camera (Cannon GL2), for my wife’s project. There was 20 minutes of footage, and NOT 1 DROPPED FRAME! Any suggestions? I have the camcorder set to DV, not HD, and I have the Ilink turned off. So I don’t know why I am having this problem. On this computer I am running Vegas 6d.

You can take a look at WINDV. This small little gem
never drops a frame. I use it to capture almost all of my DV

I just don’t understand it. I just transfered some footage from my DVX100B this time, and for 5 minutes of footage, there were about 200 dropped frames. This has never happened before. I just updated version 6b to 6d. I wonder if that could have something to do with it?

Thanks Steve, that is a slick little piece of software. I just used it and transfered some of the footage where it was dropping frames with Vegas, and didn’t drop a one with the WinDv. But I would still like to know what is going on.
