Not sure if this is the correct forum, so I’m probably shooting in the dark, but I’ll give it a shot.

    Under the Windows-platform:

    * To losslessly edit avi-files, I use the freeware program “Virtual Dub”
    * To losslessly edit mpeg-files, I use the proprietary “TMPGenc MPEG Editor”
    * To losslessly edit mov-files, I have no idea what application to use since the .mov-format seems to be locked tight by Apple and not many applications have good support for it.

Can anyone point me to an application that lets me losslessly edit mov-files? I don’t mind if it cost me some bucks or if it’s free, as long as it does its job.

(By “losslessly”, I mean extract/remove parts of video-files to another without losing any quality)

    Regards,
    Rikard

virtual dub loves quick times as much as avi files.
    is it not eatin it?
If not I think it’s the codec in the QT.

None of the VDub-versions I’ve been used (even up to the most recent) have not been able to open QT-files without using Avisynth or any particular plugin. By using Avisynth it will not be possible to use “Direct stream copy”, and therefore it will be of no use to me.

I haven’t been able to find any application that does what I want, so I’m curious. How do you pros extract parts from .mov-files without re-render?

    Regards,
    Rikard

How about QuickTime Pro? – as long as what you mean by “editing” is basic cuts-only.
