Losing Renders
This is a sporadic issue and I’ve been trying to isolate it. I’ve got a commercial with magic bullet looks applied. I render the timeline and opened another project. When I re-open, all the renders are lost and I have to re-render. It doesn’t happen all the time.
It’s not only in this project, but others as well.
A quick search here shows this is an ongoing problem. Any solutions?
I’m not sure whether it has something to do with Looks or Premiere.I’m running PPro 6.0.3

I have had a dialog with Adobe over this issue recently. Heres a thread that discusses it. It has happened to me with both regular rendered clips and dynamically rendered clips. But its sporadic and hard to relate to any one thing.

Probably a media management issue.
Where is your raw media and where are your Video Previews stored?
We have not really had any “lost render” issues in our shop following Richard Harrington’s media management structure outlined in “An Editor’s Guide to Adobe Premiere Pro.” All of our raw media and Video Previews are kept together.

On my system the raw video is stored on a network drive and the media cache is on my local drive.

Rendered files are stored in your Preview files folder. Where is that?

Raw video on external network raid is good, that’s also where your Video Previews should be. Are they there?
We also put our Media Cache in the same location as the raw video as we’re a networked shop and putting the media cache with the raw video allows us to move a project to a different suite without having to rebuild all the peak files.

Todd, I also store Media Caches on the same drive as the Media and Preview files folders. However in my case that is a external raid for one computer.This maximizes the speed that this information can be accessed. The faster the better.
