  • Losing Audio During Editing

Posted by Ken Bennett on October 2, 2010 at 12:44 am

I’m just editing a 3 hr, 2-cam, stage show. I have 4 audio tracks, all normalized. I’m about half way through the project and twice today I suddenly lost all audio. If I shut Vegas 9.0e down and re-start, it’s fine again. This second time it seems to cut out at the same point before I lose ALL audio. Nothing unusual at this point. No cuts or anything. Video is AVI.

    Any idea??

    Thanks,

What audio device are you using? Do you have the latest drivers installed? If it’s your audio device that cuts out there may be a driver conflict.

Just using what WIN 7 has. Says I’ve got Realtek HD Audio. I’ve had no real sound issues regarding Windows stuff. This is the first problem with audio in Vegas for me. But this is also the longest program I’ve edited in Vegas.

I can check for latest drives, but I’ve heard this is a problem in Vegas and happens every now and there. Twice for me in one day. We’ll see how today goes as I finich up the basic cuts on this project.

    Thanks,

I’ve determined that I will lose all Vegas audio after about 90 minutes of editing.

I don’t know what to do at this point. I use an M-Audio Firewire 410 audio device and I’ve never had any problems. You are using the motherboard audio which should be pretty safe.

    Yep, using on-board audio.
