    Hello

I am considering purchasing a Canon 5d Mark III camera and I want to download some test footage to make sure my current system can handle it.

Anyone know of link(s) where I can download the various formats that Canon creates?

FYI Currently using Adobe Premiere 5.

    Thanks

    The camera records one format…H.264.

    Hi Shane,

This article implies that there are two file sizes that the Mark III can use.

Both are H.264. But different compressions. One they call ALL-I and the other they call IPB. All-I has a much larger file size, as I understand it. I am wondering if the bigger file size would take more cpu to work with.

    Your thoughts?

    Thanks!

What type of computer do you have? What are the specs?

I run a 2010 8-core Mac Pro and haven’t had any problems with either compression scheme. We primarily use it in All-I format. The higher data rate will impact your hard drives more than your computer. The CPU is still decoding h.264 either way. As Shane said, the only codec the camera shoots to is h.264. Provided you have some type of RAID for your video files, you should have no problem.
