Looking for info on tape capture with Canon XH-A1S
Hi,
I’m trying to help a remote editing client to get his XH-A1S footage from tape with the best possible look. He has both iMovie and FCP (likely 7). He hasn’t told me the frame rate he used. He doesn’t get FCP very well, but since I’m editing with it, it’s better to capture the video with it and save any re-processing I’d need to do if he captured on iMovie. My HDV camera is a Sony, so I know there will be some differences. When I capture, I use:
HDV 1080i 60
HDV
Sony HDV FirewireI know that once I can dial in on an Easy Setup for him, he’ll just need to repeat the process for each program. Thanks so much for the help!

That’s pretty much it. In FCP I believe the device setting is Firewire basic.

First of all make sure the Sony camera can play the recorded tape by Canon.
I have Canon XHA1s but never tried to play my type on Sony camera.
