Looking for economical GPU rendering options for SVP 10 or possibly 11.
I might be wrong, but I though that with Vegas 10, it had to be a CUDA GPU enabled graphics cards. But looking at
https://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/vegaspro/gpuacceleration
it seems than any OpenCL graphics card will do.I currently have Vegas Pro 10e and am ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 Series and I’m not sure if this card will work well if I upgrade to 11. When I render to Sony AVC codec, the option is there to encode with GPU if available, but it doesn’t seem to do much or speed anything up.
My budget is pretty tight – I’m OK with £100-£120 on a new card purely to speed up rendering, but £280 for the Geforce GTX 570 and similar suggested cards are pushing things a bit.
If anyone’s got any budget suggestions for Vegas Pro 10 (or 11) GPU cards, I’m all eyes and ears. I’d rather upgrade to 11 and be able to take advantage of a wider range of cards, than splurge a load of cash on a CUDA card and have to stick with 10 because the budget’s been blown. Thanks!
(PS – if it was compatible with those alien-seeking/disease-curing grid computing projects that would be even better!)
