  • Looking for all-in-one A/V file on hard drive

I’ve tried so many editors to capture old Mini DV tapes on my mac. Each editor has had problems. Media 100 seemed promising but when I Acquired a clip I went to play it on my hard drive and it shows up as a video file and separate left/right audio files (and in Finder the video plays normally, but silently when I open them in Quicktime but the audio tracks don’t do anything).

How can I Acquire/Capture just a normal file that shows up on my hard drive as one file (video and audio all in one) but separates normally when I put it in an editor (the way every other program I’ve ever tried does)?

I can’t express how long I’ve been working on trying to capture these tapes and it’s driving me completely bananas.

As an aside, is it possible to capture a full tape all in one go if it has time code breaks?

Media 100 captures them to the Media Folder ready to edit in its editor – this is why they are separate files.

If you want them all in one file, you should use the Media 100 file export option to export them into single files.
You’ll likely have to lay out what you wish to export in a program window first [File->New->Program…] and then export [File->Export->Files…].
