  LONG render time for PP/AE project +tape export recommendation

  ah yes – another long render time post.

  Dell XPS dual core, 3.0Ghz processor, 4GBs RAM, NVidia GEForce 8400 video card, Creative Labs audio (fairly basic)

  We have edited 1 & 2 hour DVD projects before, and have them come in at fairly decent render times (6-8 hours) for projects that have lowers thirds, additional audio tracks, titles, etc.

  We know have a beast of a project for broadcast television 2 hours, all of the above PLUS lots of AE (After Effects) bells & whistles.

  Render time for a DVD so we can review a draft version?
  53 HOURS.

  Is there anything we can do to speed up the process?

  Question 2 – we need to export to BetacamSP from the Dell XPS – is there a way to go directly from the video card to the Betacam deck?

  We do not have huge budgets for thousand dollar conversion boxes, etc. Could I use my Sony DSR-20 as a pass-through?

  Any suggestions highly appreciated.
