long render for simple comp?
Hello all!,I have a comp with 4 solids 2 @720×100 and 2@720×5 pixels this is a letterbox overlay for a video project the 2 720×5 solids have a simple scale animation applied….I also have some text(2 words) animate on stay for the duration of the comp(3mins)and animate off…..using text animation presets…motion blur is applied to the text….well this little beaut is taking 3hrs to render! my machine is a P4 with 2 gigs of ram-matrox parhelia 128-10,000rpm raptor main drive-+ lots of additional firwire drives…my memory and cache are set to 120% and 75% (I have tried adjusting these to no effect)I have been using after effects for several years with no really major problems,,,am I overlooking something really basic? many thanks for any help

how does it render w/o motion blur?
if it is significantly faster, you may want to try and ‘turn down’ the motion blur. in cs3 you can adjust the number of samples used in motion blur, open the comp settings, click the advanced tab, and at the bottom are the comp motion blur settings. you can adjust the shutter angle, as you could in other versions, but now you can adjust the number of samples, and reducing that value should help reduce render time, if it is motion blur that is bogging down your system.

Many thanks Kevin…it was motion blur that was causing the slow render…I split the text layer up into 3 pieces with motion blur on the animated segments (this was suggested on the Adobe forum)and bingo! all well
