  • Logging XdcamEX footage in/for Premiere Pro 5.5

So I’ve recently discovers Premiere’s wonderful ability to identify and utilizes footage directly from our EX1’s BPAV files (copied to a hard disk of course). Now I’m a little lost, as the clips have such wonderful names as 090_1105_01. There’s live shoot footage from 3 camera’s, spanning around 30 cards each, and I need a nice method to name them for future multicam syncing. I could of course assign each clip a name inside a master Premiere Pro project, but then I would have to hand off a copy of the project if anyone wanted to make any use of the names.
Previously, we used XDCAM Transfer to label and convert the files for FCP. I’d really like to be able to edit the metadata in a similar fashion for Premiere. We’re on 5.5, so Prelude isn’t an option (although upgrading might not be far in the future).
Any suggestions or pointers would be great!
