I have been logging clips on FCP, entering clip names, descriptions and scene information. then i right click on the clip and select ‘match file to clip’, nothing happens. I have managed to rename other clips (that where shot on a different camera) but it hasn’t let me rename the other files. I thought it might have duplicated the files and was renaming them elswhere, so i offlined a clip and reconnected it in the same folder. I have tried Matching the clips on thier own and as a batch which has made no difference. Whats really confusing is that even though the clip name doesn’t match the file name it can still find the file when offlined so why wont it change the name?

Are you asking about why fcp doesn’t change the name of the quicktime file in your capture scratch folder when you change the name of the clip in your browser? what’s your ultimate goal?

Yes i want to be able to change the file name in the capture scratch. At the moment i am only able to rename the clips in FCP but when i try to match file to Clip nothing happens. Im not sure if it might have something to do with how the footage was shot. The clips i have had success with were shot on 720 HD and the ones im having a problem with were shot on 1080 HD. Not sure if this would make a difference?
