Logging Clips and Proper way of organizing footage?
I just shot an hour and a half of HD 720p casino footage, imported it all last night with the HVX200 and it shot on p2 cards. The individual clips still have the default names that the p2 card gives it. All i did was change the name of the reel. I just went into my project with all the imported footage and I created a folder called “All Takes” then inside that folder are folders which have the names of each scene we shot. Inside those folders are tons of different shot variations of that certain scene. Im just trying to get organized. Im not sure if i organized it correctly or not, but I want to know the best way to organize my clips, and the best way to get the best takes out of each scene and have it in my bin handy… Im still a beginner in FCP, but im trying to learn. The last project I did was totally unorganized and it was a 30 minute film, I want this one to be very organized so I wont spend hours looking through footage for a shot I need, when I could just have it from a click of a button.

Bins are good, but bins inside bins tend to be difficult to locate.

oh, not that difficult 🙂
i;d always work with AT LEAST al media on one bin
and al cuts in another.
if there’s a lot of media,
it gets further organised into scenes, or sequences.
i would then keep the RUSHES bin open in it’s own browser tab.
just Option Double click on i to do that.nick
