  • Logged tape to capture audio only — need video and audio — how to change??

Posted by Videowmn on December 29, 2006 at 7:01 pm

Have just been through a tape logging session and discovered AFTERWARD that the capture option for “audio” only was selected rather than “video and audio”. Can’t seem to find any way of changing the “log” (now offline clips in my bin) to capture video info along with the audio info. Can this be done? Can I change all items in the log en masse or at least call each item from the bin into the “capture” window and relog (with a slight change in clip name) with the correct option selected?

I’m using PP 1.5 after upgrading from older versions. Think this fix was possible before but now can’t seem to make it happen. Lots of clips with detail so obviously would rather not have to manually re-log the tape (clip detail and time code) again if I can avoid it. All I can batch capture from that log at this point is audio only.

Anyone know how to fix this? Tips greatly appreciated! 🙂 Thanks!

I am sure we can find a workaround. Since, I am not in front of my system try this:

    a) Right click on your offline file > duplicate
    b) Right click on the duplicate > Batch Capture
    c) In the batch capture window there should be something that says ‘over-ride capture settings’
    d) Hit OK.
    e) Premiere Pro will ask you to insert a tape. Hit OK
    f) See if you can change the ‘Audio’ to ‘Audio and Video’ before it automatically starts capturing.

Aanarav — Thank you for your response. Interesting stuff. I tried the above and although there was no way to change the setting (even on override it still only captured audio — though video/audio was selected) I was able to get each clip to load into the capture window one by one to relog each clip — this time using the correct setting. I started the batch capture on the clip from the bin with clip setting override selected, then aborted the capture and the details of the clip remained in the batch window. So changed the name by adding A on the end and then relogged it to the bin. A bit tedious but better than the alternative. Thanks for your help!

Hmm…Thanks for posting back. I guess the “override” settings option is pretty useless then ;-). I will file a feature request with Adobe. Please do the same by visiting Adobe.com.

    Thanks,

I had this problem a while back. Someone suggested exporting out my capture list and re-importing it. When I re-imported the list it allowed me to change the settings. Worked like a charm.

R Summerfield you are a genius (and whoever told you to try that!)

Just did the very same thing (although video only rather than V+A).

Your little hint just saved me hours of pain! Cheers!!!

Well…… if that were only true!! Actually it was someone on this list a lot smarter than me who came up with the original info. Glad it helped.
