    Thanks for your help.

For some reason, L&T will not take clips over just a min long. No settings have changed and there is plenty of space on the hard drives. I’ve also never had any issues with it.

When dragged to the queue, L&T acts as if it is transferring for about 2 secs then stops, leaving a 1 sec clip in the archive, instead of a 17 min video.

    Short clips are working fine.

I know it’s not the card reader and I’m currently trying to move the files from the card to the hard drive, then redirecting L&T to it, but I’d like to not have to do this every time.

Using FCP606. The mac is older, PowerPC Dual

What format are you shooting? Trying to import?

Sorry I’ve taken months to respond…

Shooting with a Sony HDV cam.

Using Lexar Compact Flash and USB capture/transfer device. Create M2T files.

There’s a work around of course by just taking the files off the card manually and placing them on the External but it take time and needed space…

That’s not a work around…that’s a needed step. That’s the FIRST step in this process…back up your card…fully. That is your “master tape.” Treat it with care. Back it up. Put it on a separate drive that you store on the shelf.

Yes I’ve tried to reiterate that to my boss… He finally bought a few more hard drives…

In the meantime, I’d just like to know where this bug is coming from.

Short clips are fine but long clips such as media briefings are not when coming direct off the card to FCP6.

But if could convince him that the best route would be to

    1. Make a backup of the whole card.

    2. Place the whole card on another hard drive that he could then work off of.

Only issue is that we use the same couple cards for everything and they are not always full. I’d rather not have to copy everything each time. I’d just have to remember the file names I suppose…
