  • log and transfer resolution…can I change it?

I’ve been using log and transfer to get P2 footage in my system for a while now. I assumed that my client was sending me 960×720, since that is how all the footage comes in at.
Yet they asked me to output at 1280×720. I always thought this was strange, so I finally asked why they didn’t send me the files in the resolution they requested.
Their answer was that they were. They say that the P2 files are shot in 720p60 at 1280×720.

I was under the assumption that log and transfer transfered the native resolution of the P2 files.

We’ve had no trouble with just outputing at the higher resolution, but it seems to me that it would be best to stay 1280×720 the whole time.

    Am I wrong?

    Can I change it?

    Todd,

DVCProHD is an anamorphic format recorded at 960×720 squeezed to display at 1280×720 when unsqueezed. When you’re outputting at 1280×720 that’s not a higher resolution, but rather just “full raster,” which simply means that delivering a file without the anamorphic squeeze.

    Thanks for the information.

so if I understand your post correctly, It doesn’t matter that I I’m transferring P2 at 960×720, and outputting at 1280×720.

It sounds like my workflow is good, right?
