Log and Transfer AVCHD video from Sony HDR-11
I have captured footage on my Sony HDR-SR11 AVCHD camera and am using Log and Transfer in FCP 6.0
After a clip is completely transferred, when I play it back the video has a hiccup in it. Every 2 to 3 seconds the video gets jagged like it’s going back a fraction of a second and then skipping forward.
My sequence preset is : Apple ProRes 422 1920×1080 60i 48khz
And my Capture preset is: HDV-Apple Pro Res 422The camera records 1920 x 1080 full HD.
does anyone know why this is happening? The video does not behave the same when played back on the camera.
I also want to know if there is a way to create SD DVD’s from this HD Source material on the AVCHD Camera?

Do you have Perian installed? It can cause a problem with this media.

Yes, I do have Perian installed. I’ll remove it and try to transfer again and see if makes a difference.

I removed Perian and it is still flickering after the transfer.
Any other suggestions or resources that might help? -
Exactly what version of FCP and of QuickTime are you using? What computer? What drive or drives? How is everything connected?

Open one of the Log and Transferred quicktime movies in Quicktime Player. See if it skips there.

I opened it up in QuickTime and the same thing happened. I still have no answer and I’m here to work it out within the next few hours. I’d appreciate your help.
I have a MacPro 2 x2.8 Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon, with 8GB 800 Mhz, , Running Mac OS X 10.5.6
I have a G-Speedes (G-Raid) 4TB external disk that I am using as my Scratch Disk.My video camera is a Sony HDR-SR11
I have Final Cut Pro 6.0.5
Any other ideas?

Do you still have the footage on a card that you can playback form the camera? See if it’s on the camera as well.

Hmm, must be something in the L&T process. Are you transferring form the card itself, or have you moved the contents of the card to another hard drive. I have never tried this from that camera, so I am just offering educated guesses here.

I have done both. I copied the entire folder structure to my hard drive and tried to L&T from both the Hard Drive and the camera. I’m wondering having both available for the L&T is causing the problem. Any other ideas?
