  • Log and Caputre Trouble – No Video

Posted by K Albright on August 30, 2006 at 4:10 am

I have a camera that I’m using as a deck and trying to log and caputre some footage off miniDV. There’s timecode and I have the VTR OK message. But there’s no picture or sound coming through on the computer and if I try to switch to non-controllable device and do a caputre now, I get a message telling me there is no video. I’ve tried rebooting, swtiching cables, all the usualy no-brainer stuff (or maybe not since I’m stil having trouble!). It just doesn’t make any sense since the computer is clearly talking to the camera. I’ve also tried changing settings on the camera and no luck.

Worked last time I used it. Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks!

    Try looking here:

This seems to be the answer to many of these kind of problems.

    Worth a shot.

    Hi Kathryn,

I seem to be having the same problem you had when trying to capture footage from a camera.

I usually get one or 2 clips done and then I start getting the error of something to the tune of this command could not be completed because”there is no video”. It’s of course ridiculous because the computer is happily controlling the camera and it will give this message before and after working perfectly normally.

Thus far the only thing that’s worked has been shutting down the computer and restarting and then it will work for a clip (I’m now doing entire tapes if possible) and then stop working…

Have you found any more info on how to get around this problem?

The response to your post regarding trashing “receipts” is something that worked for me for another separate problem that I recently had because of upgrading my OS. Not sure if it applies to this problem.

Would love to hear any advice you might have to offer.

    Cheers,

    Jim
