Log and Capture woe’s vx2000 with sony handy cam

here is what I have.
2.16 macbook 10.5.8 FCP 6
I’m borrowing a friends vx2000 with a broken mini dv jack. So I’m trying to log and capture with my old dcr-hc15E sony handycam.
I can control the playback but preview disabled.
(I’ve made sure view “all frames” is enabled, and trashed my preferences, and recording to internal hard drive)When I try to capture the footage I get an error message saying that their is no footage.
I’ve been shooting in 16:9 and my device settings are firewire ntsc basic
capture: DV ntsc 48k anamorphic.If i get this working will I get a loss of quality?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.Edit: I just recorded some footage on the same tape with the hce handycam and the log and capture works. Any ideas as to how to work around this or do I need to pay someone to log the footage. I’m planing on doing a wedding next week and need to get this straightened out.

My guess the Sony was set on EP and not SP. Does the tape play back okay on the sony?

Booth cameras are set on SP. And the tape plays on the small Sony. -
More development but still looking for a solution.
So Oddly enough I tried another newer mini dv camera and for one of the tapes(A) I shot with the vx2000 it said wrong tape format. It would not play back footage taken on the tape by booth cameras.
Another tape(B) shot on vx2000 logged fine.
Any ideas? Is that tape(A) for ever gone?thanks for any help.
