We are using FCP 5.0.2, BetacamSP, and a Kona LS card. The UVW-1800 Beta machine and the Kona Card is connected via the analog component connections.

In the log and capture dialog boxes, FCP gives all sorts of controls for adjusting the video as you digitise it…stuff like hue, saturation, brightness, contrast, black levels, and white levels. In the Audio section of the same dialog box, there is a control for Input Channels. All of these are important and useful controls.

However, on our systems, these controls are all “greyed out.” Does anyone have any advice on how to activate these controls?

They are not supported with any cards that I know of. So to keep things in a situation where you could color correct in FCP, and then later recapture if need be with the same levels you captured with in the first place, use the bars from the source tapes, and setup your 1800 with a BVR-50 remote control (gives you the proc amp controls that will allow for this).

[Jerry Hofmann] “They are not supported with any cards that I know of.”

Actually, the Blackmagic cards cards, such as Extreme, support proc amp control at input.
