Posted by Brandi Wood on August 27, 2008 at 7:01 pmFinal Cut Pro 5 User. Today when I tried to “Log and Capture” I noticed that my name field was gray and is not allowing me to name any clips. Help!

All the best,

August 28, 2008 at 1:41 amWould you have any idea why, all of a sudden, when I go to capture a clip it logs the one clip as 5 seperate files. Example….
capture file name: interview
it saves the one file name and then it also multiplies it as interview-v1, interview-v2, interview-v3, interview-v4, interview-v5, along with the seperate audio files, interview-a1, etc….. All clips are coming up as 2GB per clip…eating up tons of space.I have deleted preferences and still doing it. Very strange.

That is clearly a hard drive that is formated FAT32 rather than Mac Extended, which is proper. FAT32 is a Windows format with a 2Gb file size limitation, hence all the files coming up 2Gb and being broken into several files.
You will need to temporarily move all vaulable files from that drive to another, then reformat that one to Mac Extended using the Apple Disk Utility.
