Locking down the 360 degree rotation on a ball head of an articulating arm or flash mount.
Hi.
I just got a Small HD monitor and evf with an articulating arm. Everything’s great, but one of the ball heads doesn’t lock down and I don’t know if it’s even supposed to–BUT it is really annoying using the monitor in a run and gun shoulder mount configuration and the monitor is swinging all over the place.
Should it lock down or is it broken or any ideas about what I’m missing. Just tape it down? Glue? I heard someone say JB Weld, but that would be permanent would it not?

That doesn’t sound right to me, but I wouldn’t recommend any type of welding or other glue because yes that would make the “fix” permanent. Have you tried contacting the manufacturer directly or looking on their support web site (I assume they have one, maybe not)

I agree with Steve, something not right with the arm. It should lock firmly, that’s the whole idea of them. Sometimes they can require a very firm tighten. If you’ve just purchased it take it back and get them to check it out.
