locking alpha channel of a tga file when applying an effect?
I’m very new to after effects, but have been able to learn quickly due to my experience with photoshop.
one thing I’m stumped on is this. I want to lock the alpha channel of a tga sequence so I can apply a blur within the alpha mask only so the edges dont get blured. I cant find a way of doing this without blurring the entire image.
I then want to apply a subtle blur for the edges on top of that.
please can someone point me in the right direction for this, I’m on a deadline for today 🙁

there’s also an effect called channel blur that will let you blur the individual channels of the sequence… so you can blur the r, g and b channels with a setting of say 10, and the alpha with a setting of say 2.

cheers guys. I stumbled on the blur channels earlier on so just used that.
dave – cool, I think I may have used that technique before, though wouldn’t it also apply to all the other layers underneath? would be cool to just link the adjustment layer button to certain file layers.
