I’ve come across a frustrating problem on my last KONA LHe update. I have lost the ability to choose three of my Digital Cinema Desktop Preview settings.

    • Digital Cinema Desktop Preview-Main — OK –
    • Digital Cinema Desktop Preview — not available
    • Digital Cinema Desktop Preview-Full-Screen — not available
    • Digital Cinema Desktop Preview-Raw — not available

I reinstalled Final Cut Studio 2 hoping that returning to Final Cut 6 would resolve the issue but it did not. Any suggestions?

If you have a Kona, why use digital desktop? What version of the drivers do you use? Have you turned off external video?

I use the Kona LHe card for color correcting to my SD Broadcast Sony monitor or when working in SD. When I’m offline editing in HD, I use a 24″ Dell and a 32″ LCD HD Panasonic. The Panasonic was used as my Digital Cinema Desktop Preview-Full-Screen (via DVI to HDMI).

I have tried reinstalled Final Cut Studio (back to ver. 6), deleted Kona driver ver. 7.0 reverted to ver. 6.5 and still no luck. Went in to the Apple system preferences and made sure the Displays were properly set up. Again no luck.

It frustrates me and my producer to have lost this ability. So any insight would be appreciated.

Why don’t you hook your Kona card up to the LCD? You can send it analog HD through your sd monitor (even though your SD monitor won’t display anything but noise, so just turn it off). Sounds crazy, but try it.

I guess that is what I’ll have to do, but it will be a nuance re-wiring my component cables and/or resetting the KONA settings when I color correct in SD.

Why do you have to rewire? Simply use the component passthrough on your Sd monitor? Then choose the proper easy setup in either HD or SD in FCP.

    You won’t have to move.

I’ll have to re-think my cabling. Used to do it as you suggested but changed it for some reason. Can’t off the top of my head remember why.

By the way thanks for your help.
