  • Loading in Footage shot at 1080i 60fps & 40fps via blackmagic to FCP – please help

We just got some HD footage that we’re trying to load in and are unable to.
We’re going from the 1200A deck to Blackmagic to FCP.
Can anyone advise on what easy setup, device control, sequence setup we should be using?
Currently we can’t see the picture when we have the capture input settings on 1080, we only
see it on 720. Is it possible that it wan’t shot in 1080?
Thanks for any and all help. I would hate to load everything in incorrectly.

ok, it was shot at 720i both at 40fps and 60fps.
We can load in the 40fps footage using the “Blackmagic HDTV 720 59.94Hz-8bit”
setting, but it does a funky speed change on the material.
I don’t know what other setting to load this stuff in at.

    Emily,

The varicam only records in 720P not 1080. Unless you setup the 1200A to cross convert from 720 to 1080i this would be the only way to capture it as 1080i.

Did you rent the 1200A from a rental house? If so ask their engineering department for help regarding the proper menu setups for the 1200A.
