Hey guys. I accidentally applied an effect to my entire project then kept working. How do I view a complete list of actions so that I can undo this crazy mess? Thanks for your input It’ll save me a headache.

    Hi Micheal

You’ll find the undo function will only go back a certain amount of levels which is dependant on how many levels you’ve set it to within the user preferences.

It’s set to 20 or 10 (I can’t recall of the top of my head) by default. So unless you’ve changed this it’s unlikey you’ll be able to go back far enough to correct your unwanted changes.

I’d recommend going through the autosaves until you find the correct one and copy the needed media/edits to the timeline of your most recent version.

I’d also recommend not setting the autosave levels too high as this will use up more of your available system memory.

    Regards

    Alex

What do you mean you added an effect to your entire project? Were you nesting sequences? If so, you can right click the sequence in the timeline and select “load in viewer” and delete the effect in the motion tab. Otherwise, I dont think there is a list of actions like there is in Photoshop. What I do is go to Final Cut Pro > User Preferences and set my Level of Undos to 99.

Just be aware that undo’s are stored in RAM, so the more levels you specify the more RAM you eat up remembering them.

Regarding selectively removing filters from a finished sequence, you change your Playhead Sync to Open (View > Playhead Sync > Open, or Ctrl-Shift-O) and then scrub through your sequence … as you do so then each clip under the playhead will open into the Viewer window; switch the Viewer window to display the Filters tab and then as each clip opens up there, disable or delete the unwanted effects …

… or try Filter Remover from the fine folks at EditMule … its only 15 bucks and it could save you hours of tedious work:

    Very Best
