I’m budgeting for an industrial where I need a 2-shot of a passenger and driver in the front seats of a car. The camera can be mounted off to the passenger’s side and needs to be inside the car if at all possible. It should have a 16:9 aspect ratio and be standard def as the final will be a web video. Any ideas or recommendations?

Sony has a brand new one, just came out in the past month or two I think, should fit your bill, it is HD but you can use that to give you room to add re-framing and pans and zooms in post as you downconvert to the SD final, this HD down to SD, IMO, for this kind of job is ideal.

The review I read on it was glowing. We have an older Sony LS-1 that matched our betacams pretty closely, considering. It was and is a tremendously productive little camera for car work. In the time it took us to rig a full-blown hood mount for a conventional camera, the lipstick was able to get me five different POV shots using just a pad of foam rubber and some gaffer tape, from angles inside and outside the car that the bigger camera could never deliver. We got a variety of screw-on primes for it, a fisheye and a less distorting wide-angle, from a security camera company like Supercircuits ior similar.
