  • Linear scaling down in AE to achieve nice antialiasing of 3d renders?

    Hi There

I have a scene rendered in 3D (LIghtwave), that is rendered at 2x standard definition resolution, that I want to ultimately display at standard definition via a resize in AE. … This approach taken upon advice that linear downscaling can achieve a good antialiase, when the usual antialiase switches inside Lightwave fail to achieve the desired results.

Upon scaling the Lightwave render inside AE to 50% – the image appears not to have been antialiased as desired. In the preview settings, am not using open GL, and zoom quality set at highest setting. And when actually rendering with best settings (to disk) – still the desired AA is not apparent.

However, when the image is set to 100% scale inside AfterEffects, and the preview window is set to 50% – indeed the image appears really beautifully antialiased! But attempting to render that with highest quality resize (to 50%) in output settings fails to carry the beautiful AA through to the After Effects rendered output image saved to disk.
How to get that beautiful AA result in the render from After Effects?

    Thanks in advance!

Ok, that sounds like it could be the issue, thanks!
