    Hi,

First post so I hope I’m in the right place – if not, feel free to point me elsewhere.

How would I go about making 3D shapes with a line drawn effect that can be rotated etc. (as seen in the attached screenshot taken from this video by Impactist – https://vimeo.com/446384)?

The colour fill isn’t necessary but it would be interesting to learn how that is done too.

    Thanks.

    Casey

My guess is that it was built in a 3D program. If you wanted to build it in After Effects it can be done but will take longer. You will have to create a rectangle and check the 3D space check box. Make sure you only have the ouline and not the fill. Then create a line the length as one side of the rectangle. Then using the position and rotation you will have to build a triangle. You can parent all of them to a Null if you want to rotate or move the whole 3D triangle. Hope this made some sense. Best of luck.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, Stephen. Your AE workaround does make sense to me but perhaps C4D Lite would be a good starting point instead. Time to get learning!

That’s just what I’m after – 2D ‘toon’ style colour on 3D shapes. Thank you.
