  • Limit on Project File Size?

Posted by Brent Streeper on January 19, 2006 at 1:18 am

    Hello,
Just wondering if there is a limit to how big a project file should be. The reason I’m asking is because we’ve got a project that is now approaching 150MB. Are we approaching critical mass?
    Thanks,
    Brent

NO limit that I know of, but that is getting big.

You might want to break it up into several projects. I have a who hour show that I break up into hour one and hour two. If it gets too bad, I might break it into a project an act.

We regularly deal with projects in this range. The problems start arising when you have multiple projects of this size all open at the same time. We’ve found that over 400 mb in size can really start slowing things down. How much RAM you have in your system will also affect this “threshold of pain”. If you need to work with big projects, max out your RAM.
