“Lights” as Text Effect in Apple Motion
I am trying to create text that appears to be light bulbs and lights up (think old school Vegas signs, dico, etc.). I have seen some suggestions on this in AE, but I need to be able to create this in Motion.
I was thinking this would be two parts, but I am not sure if I am even thinking this through correctly, where I would have dots or circles that create the text I want, then second I would animate it with color and effects to make it appear that it lights up.
Any suggestions?

You may want to go to the Library tab, content, Miscellaneous, Light Wall 01 or 02. Import it and take a look at how it was built. Hope this helps and best of luck.
