Kind of a newb here and I have a very detailed model that I am working on. I am trying to make a cross section of it, using near clipping on the camera but none of my light sources will illuminate the interior. I’m using an older model IMAC so using a boole object actually freezes C4D. Is there any way to get good lighting in the interior or a model like this when using near clipping on the camera?

Clipping planes on the camera do not actually remove geometry before the shading stage of rendering.

You have to modify the geometry either through a boolean operation or by cutting and removing geometry.

If the Boole generator is too slow you could try rBoole (render time boolean).

I suggest you try the rboole plugin here: https://plugins4cinema4d.com/rboole.html

Setup is little tricky but it works well once you get the hang of it.
