    Hello,

I have a client that shot some footage of a band on a stage. The available light was less than desirable, leaving the image looking very flat and stale. He wants to bring up the production value by manipulating the image with filters and/or plug ins. Are there any Final Cut Studio filters or plug-ins that one can use to create artificial light for dramatic effect. Perhaps Motion has something like this?

The goal is to boost the production value without making it look campy. I hope I’ve been clear on what I’m dealing with and looking for. Thank you for your time and input.

    Cheers,
    PF

Lyric have a free plugin called Shadow highlight. It is a great little plug and simple to use that does an excellent job of lifting poorly lit footage and making it seem like a fill light has been turned on. It also had saturation and contract settings within the plug so it is a very useful filter to put before the standard 3 way CC.

I use this plugin a lot on docos, plus the 3 way and Nattress gamma plugins to get a lot of classy punch into flat poorly lit scenes.
