Lighting Dilemma in After Effects
I have this problem in after effects, where whenever i try to cast a light on a 3d layer, the layer turns black. i checked the layer properties and “accepts light” is set to on. This happens to all the 3d layers below the light layer and with all types of light.
This is very frustrating, does anyone know what might be the problem ?Thanks a lot,

Your light is not pointing at the object.
Open the position property for the object.
Open the Point of interest for the light. Make them the same and the light will be pointing at the object.bogiesan

I just checked and they are the same!

check the light’s intensity? If it’s a negative number, it will make the layers darker. You might also check that the light is close enough to the layer to light it enough.

Light intensity is positive, and the light is close enough to the object. I don’t think this is the problem, even parallel lights are not working.
I just imported a previously done project that has working lights and it worked just fine! But when i copy individual layers and lights into a new composition, everything goes black!! -

Open the AE help system to LIGHTS and start going through the setup procedures, one step at a time. You have a something set up incorrectly. I’m guessing your light is starting later in the comp than you think. It’s not really “on” yet.

Well nothing seems wrong with the light set up!!
Lights used to work perfectly, i don’t know what has gone wrong with this application. Damn!
