Light streaks
I have shot a club scene for a music video and wondered if there was anything in after effects for creating light streaks similar to one of the latest usher videos where the streaks are picked up from the bright light sources in the footage.

Search here for light streams and volumetric lighting effects. We see this post at least once a week. The usual answers suggest you invest in Trapcode plugins but the effect can be done with the stock tools. There are several tutorials on the Cow and elsewhere on the Net. Try some of these sites:

i’m assuming you are talking about the lens flares form the light sources behind the talent… those were probably not done in post, but done during production with careful lighting and photography planning. then, maybe enhanced in post.
but, to get started trying to create the effect in post, i’d start with the glow effect. set the glow dimensions to horizontal and crank up the glow radius. then tweak the threshold to create the glow from just the brightest highlights and adjust the intensity to get the glow to the desired brightness.
