  • Light Factory : Visible in AE but not on Renders!

I’ve running AE CS3 and Knoll Light Factory2.5 for a year+ and have never encountered this issue.
Everything was rendering fine on the job, flares visible etc for a week. I’m using LF Glow I have UnMult installed. Its all good.

Then as of 6:00 yesterday… Working in AE i can see nice LF Glows in full res 100% – I can adjust keys, values as usual. Then I render and NO FLARES appear on output frames!

I know its not some render setting… I’ve tried everything premult, straight – tried Tiffs Targas still no flares. I didn’t install or change anything recently so I’m completely baffled. I have been crashing but no more than usual. Is there a prefs file or something for plug-ins that could have ben corrupted? quicktime update thing i’m using 7.6.2? I guess I’ll try re-installing the plug-in.

of course this all happens as the project is delivering.
I was forced to screenshot stills inside Ae and try and recreate everything. Nightmare.

To quote The IT Crowd, “Have you tried turning it off and on again?” Also, since you’re talking about crashes I’ll assume it’s a Windows machine, if you hold Alt + Ctrl + Shift while AE’s starting up you can trash the preferences file. It’ll rebuild a default one…that fixes a lot of issues. (It also means you’ll have to redo any changes you’ve made as far as preferences go…)

I’m actually on mac- just reinstalled knoll LF and it IS showing up in renders again-
Not 100% sure but I think the problem was i was working off an auto-save project file-
that may have been corrupted after a AE crash. AE is still not rendering original plug-in layers but if i apply the same effect to new layers the effect does render.
