  • Lift a lead cello above an orchestra?

Posted by Jack Kelly on November 16, 2006 at 5:57 pm

A client of mine has come to me with a stereo recording of a cello soloist accompanied by a live orchestra. She has asked me if there’s anyway to lift the cello from the mix? I’m almost certain that this is impossible but I promised her that I’d ask around! Any ideas would be great!

    Many thanks,
    Jack

    Jack,

It may be possible if it’s not too far back … You will want to use the parametric EQ and try and lock onto the chello’s major frequencies … If you would like I am willing to look at it just E-mail me a minute or so sample … Email to loganonestudio@aol.com and I will look at it tonight when I get home ………… WILLIE

Wow – thanks loads for offering to look at it! Unfortunately it will take a few days to get the audio onto my computer – would it be OK if I sent it to you sometime over the next few days?

    Many thanks,
    Jack
