[Bob Zelin] “are you using a 2006 Mac Pro with Model Identifier 1,1 ?”

Or he is using compressed audio without using an actual physical piece of media for the slugs.

Leaving blank areas for black, when using compressed VO’s or music will cause this too.

    Hi Guys:

Seems its the second issue. The one Gary mentioned. Converted the audio to 48KHz aiff. I have a late 2009 Octo core ….. Ill put slugs on track 1 and edit on top of that and let you know how it goes.

My last project in FCP7. Switching OS’s to 10.8 and moving to MC7.

Ok so placed slugs on track 1 …. seemed to help for a while then it started doing its own thing … consolidated all clips including slugs in 1 track , still the same ….

Is this an issue you just cant get around? An FCP 7 issue ?

    Nigel.

something is not right in your time line. Have you done a mixdown of the audio?

have you rendered out the file completely?

This is an issue between the audio rendering and the video formats, the hardware is just making you aware of the error.

Audio file was converted in QT from 44.1 to 48 Khz…..which plays well with FCP.

the timeline is 1080p 23.98 Prores HQ. all the files are PRORES HQ. some files came from GH2 others from 5D.

sometimes when FCP converts the AVCHD files from the GH2 it drops the head or tail frame. ive seen this happen a few times but have never been able to find out why this happens.

Never has made a difference to the final project before.

BUT this out of sync issue has happened before with DVCPRO HD footage/Projects

Just because your computer worked yesterday does not mean it will work today.

Mixing codecs is the issue- purge your render files, set your timeline to SAFE and re-render. you are trying to screw around with Realtime playback and with the varying levels of compression in your files the RT engine is doing the best it can.

I have had this random sync issue in FCP7 ever since I purchased the LHi about 3 years ago.
I spent a lot of time trying to work out the issue and AJA even sent
me a new card… but nothing helped. Tried many different settings, drivers and tweaks, but still had sync going out by up to 5 frames on a random basis. Then one day I turned of audio scrubbing (SHIFT S) and sync is now perfect. Try that and see if it works for you.
