Let’s talk about efficiency and workflow when working on a filmmusic
Hello everyone, i am new here and hope for a very nice exchange with you. I am part of small indie filmmaker team. We also sometimes do corporate movies and advertisements. I’d really love to know how other filmmakers work when it comes to work with directors and composers.
What tactics, tools have you employed to collaborate with your team and communicate with your composers, keep the track of the feedback and be on the same page?
In my team we have this endless feedback loop on music through emails/chats and need to export a different film for every piece of music we’re considering. Sometimes it’s hard to follow which film is the latest version with what feedback. Can we discuss methods and tools we can use on this to ease and shorten the work time?

I’m not sure but have you tried frame io?
I use it for all my clients.

I know you never use the word FINAL in a file name. I prefer to embed the date in a file name and in my Explorer window (Finder on Mac) I prefer to sort by creation date.
As for feedback, my workflow is fairly simple so dates and quoting file names in email is all I need. Frame.io certainly makes sense if you are dealing with a bigger team, multi comments and lots of versioning

Which version of frame.io do you use? The free one? And how do you like it so far? I’ve heard about this tool a lot.

The free one is no different than a paid version as far as basic options.
Just the data size allowed and projects are the only difference I think.
We pay for the basic one (now).
In the past, I was using it for dailies…yes dumb LOL!
I had to put a kibosh on that.
It was more of the administrating the files and having it ready the next day for the producer to view that killed it for me.
Way too much work.
