Less RT and more dropped frames with FCP 5…a shame
After one week and many tries on two differents configurations both configured with BMD SD or HD cards, and the same ATTO 42XS Fiber 4 Gbits and Huge 800 and/or 1250 Gb 4105 Fiber 4 Gbits (one configured as Raid 0 and the other as Raid 3), this is quite a disapointment…
FCP 5 drops frames like crazy.
Impossible to play back more than 4 layers of 8 bit uncompressed SD, was possible to do 7/8 with 4.5 ! what a shame…
Whatever the options set, disabling Dynamic RT or not, high or low quality, secure or unlimited RT…. it does change nothing. The best I can get is 4 tracks, at the 5th it does drop frames.
last week, I already told about the impossibility of playing back a single track of uncompressed HD 1080i from the Huge storage, but was able to play back with no dropped frames using the BMD Deck Control App, so that means there is really a problem with FCP new RT engine ?
Anyone at Huge or Blackmagic confirms all those problems with FCP 5 ????
Please, let me know your results and tests with such setups.
Both G5, dual 2,3 Ghz and dual 2,7 Ghz with 4,5 Gb of RAM. Mac OS X 10.4.1 and BMD DeckLink driver 5.0b4.
