leopard on macbook tiger on mac pro – problems?
Hi, I am about to purchase a macbook pro and when it arrives it will have Leopard installed. My Mac Pro tower has the latest Tiger and I don’t plan on changing that anytime soon. The tower has FCPS2 and quictime 7.2. If I install FCP2 on the macbook pro, can I work on projects without hitch on both machines? Will I want to keep the version of FCP the same on both (meaning 6.2 vs. 6.1, etc.)? Is working in two different operating systems going to make me insane? Or should I install tiger onto the laptop?

Always keep the same ver of FCP – otherwise it won’t share projects.
Leopard runs FCP ok on my personal laptop. I wouldn’t sweat installing Tiger on it.

I don’t think installing Tiger on a new laptop is an option. Apple has made it clear that they do not support operating systems on their machines that are older than the OS’s that ship with the machine. There is a document on Apple’s website about this – and it’s generally a practice you will want to avoid. As long as the Final Cut version are the same – you might be alright. If you do need to change one system, I would upgrade the system with Tiger.
