Lens Throw on Sony NX5
Hello all. I have a conference coming up next month and I’m considering picking this camera up possibly on Ebay. We’ve done a lot of breakout rooms with the trusty HVX200a, but in this scenario we’re going to be much further away from the podium. It’s in a section of a pretty sizable ballroom. I feel more comfortable in these situations using a video camera opposed to a cinema camera.
I knew from experience that I could always get a good MCU of a speaker at a podium from about 40ft away with the HVX200a (12x). I’m just wondering if anyone has that kind of intel about the NX5? Can I expect to get a chest shot with the 20x lens from 60 ft away, possibly further? I know there’s some type of digital control that will provide expanded zoom reach so maybe getting a shot from even a further distance might be possible.
If anyone has any insight on the lens capability it’s definitely be appreciated. Thank you.
